Obituary of Jacqueline Lois Delguidice

DELGUIDICE – Jacqueline Lois (nee Whitman) of Season’s Retirement Community, St Thomas passed away peacefully at St Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on May 1, 2023 at the age of 86.  Jackie was born in Windsor, NS.  The daughter of Burpee and Dorothy (nee Hatt) Whitman.  Predeceased by her husband Ray DelGuidice.  Mother to Daphne Cornell (late Charles), Glen (Penny Piche) MacKenzie, Heather MacKenzie (Walter Hohman), and Heath MacKenzie; and mother-in-law to Linda MacKenzie.  She leaves behind four wonderful grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  Predeceased by her dear brother Fred (Lorraine) Rogers.  Jackie attended the RN Nursing program in Halifax where she met and married Clifford MacKenzie.  The couple moved to Timmins, Clifford had found work as a geologist for Hollinger Mines.  Jackie worked at St Mary’s Hospital enjoying working on the maternity ward until starting a family.  Jackie later worked at Extendicare in Schumacher until she retired.  Jackie took pleasure in canning and sold her jams and pickles at the farmers market in Mountjoy Arena.  Her other passion was creating beautiful needle point landscapes.  Jackie loved to garden, pick berries and spent time with her coffee club buddies.  Arrangements entrusted to Simplicity Cremation, 125-750 Talbot Street, St. Thomas (226-210-1086).  Cremation has taken place.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  If desired, donations to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.  Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.simplicity-cremation.ca
