Obituary of John Charles Meloche

MELOCHE – John Charles of St Thomas passed away peacefully at the St Thomas-ElginGeneral Hospital with his family at his side on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at the age of 67.  Beloved husband of Susan Meloche.  John is survived by his children Laura Hepburn (Aaron) of St Thomas and Linda Meloche (Owen Fletcher) of London and grandson Leonard Hepburn.  John will be remembered for his sense of humour, his love of music and literature, and for his community spirit.  He was an avid fan of banana cream pies..  He had strength and humour in the face of his many health challenges and was always ready with a joke and a story, no matter where he was.  John was known in his adopted hometown of Ladysmith, BC, for organizing such events as Pumpkinfest and Oysterfeast to name just a few.  He also founded and ran the first online community newspaper in Ladysmith, known as the Ladysmith & Chemainus News on the Web, and contributed articles to TAKE 5 Magazine.  John will be remembered with love and a million funny stories from everyone who met him.  Arrangements entrusted to Simplicity Cremation, 125-750 Talbot Street, St. Thomas (226-210-1086).  Cremation has taken place.  Private Interment of ashes at a later date.  If desired, donations to Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.  Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.simplicity-cremation.ca
